About Me
Hey there! 👋
I'm Sai Charan, a Platform Engineer who accidentally got really good at making computers behave (most of the time).
My Journey So Far
I started as a curious kid in Bangalore who thought coding was just about making websites look pretty. Fast forward through a CS degree, a Master's in Germany, and hopping a few countries later turns out I'm pretty decent at keeping systems alive at 3 AM.
Plot Twist: What began with HTML and CSS somehow evolved into wrangling Kubernetes clusters, optimizing CI/CD pipelines, and sweet-talking AWS into cooperating with my credit card. I've gone from “why won't this button center?” to “why is this deploy taking 9 minutes instead of 3?” (Spoiler: I fixed it.)
What I Actually Do
I build the behind-the-scenes systems that quietly keep everything running, the stuff no one notices until it breaks.
- CI/CD pipelines that developers don't hate (and might even like).
- Docker images that behave like good citizens.
- Terraform configs that don't implode on apply.
- Monitoring and alerts that make sense and matter.
- Never been the "stick to one thing" kind I just follow what's interesting, and learn fast enough to keep up.
Basically, I make things faster, more reliable, and less painful so teams can ship confidently (and sleep better).
Currently at Proda.ai in London, I'm mostly in full-stack mode, but I still get my hands dirty with platformy puzzles. I tend to jump into whatever needs fixing, learning just enough (and then some) to make things work.
The Fun Bits
- Lived in India, Germany, and the UK. I've collected accents, languages and a couple of AWS certs.
- Married to someone who believes in me no matter what and makes sure I never walk alone, even on the toughest days.
- Play chess and table tennis terribly.
- Trying to get into fitness. Failing. Reattempting. Still caffeinated.
- LFC supporter! I was at the 2025 victory parade, yelling like it was a second job.
- Big fan of card/board games, especially the chaotic, shouty kind.
- Slowly turning into that person who can taste "notes of citrus" in coffee.
- Always on the hunt for food that either melts my face or makes me question my life choices (in a good way).
- Love live music! I'm lucky enough to have seen Roger Waters, James Hetfield, Axl Rose, and A.R. Rahman do their thing.
Bonus Skills
- Can explain Kubernetes to your grandmother.
- Writes alerts people actually care about.
- Never met a microservice I couldn't containerize.
- Just trying to be a kind human in tech: helpful, curious, and easy to work with.
What's Next?
I'm endlessly curious! Whether it's diving into a new tool, scripting something to save 5 minutes, or tinkering with infrastructure. Lately, I've been exploring how ML models work under the hood.
I learn fast, especially when things break, which, let's be honest, is often the best teacher anyway.
